Steve Austin

Greg Bovell, more popularly known by the moniker Steve Austin throughout the music fraternity, is taking his passion for music to another level. Born in the culturally diverse borough of Brooklyn, New York to a Panamanian mother and a Jamaican father, Steve was introduced to various genres of music from a young age.

When dancehall music became more popular, with speakers pulsating this somewhat new sound throughout the borough, it was no surprise that Steve would create his very own sound-system which he called, 'Full House International'. Prior to starting his sound-system, Steve being a DJ was featured on famed rapper Chubb Rock’s album titled, 'The One', on the single 'Just the Two of Us'. As an artiste Steve enjoyed success but knew that he was destined for greater fetes within the music.

With the popularity of his sound system throughout New York, Steve was recruited by an even more popular sound called Earthquake Hi Power. Artists such as Screechy Don, James Bond, Stevie Irie and more, were famously called the New York DJ’s who were carrying the dancehall banner and enjoying notable success at that time. They all, Steve included, made Earthquake Hi Power the sound to watch with their lyrical prowess and high energy performances.

Steve created and hosted his own cable television show 'Dancehall World' which as the name implies featured everything dancehall. Interviews, videos, dancehall party promotions and more. The show was successful, and Steve Austin was becoming a household name exhibiting strength like the television character from whom he adopted his name.

After a few years it was on to another venture for Steve. Radio broadcasting was a passion for this multi-talented artiste, and he quickly had the number one show in his timeslot on Whaa Gwaan Radio, an underground station broadcasting live from Brooklyn, New York. His 'make it' or 'break it' segment showcased new artistes and new music.

Being a producer was another passion Steve wanted to pursue, so in October 2018 along with some artiste friends, he launched his very own music label called House of Muzik Entertainment.

London Riddim's Executive Producer Steve Austin produced a 14 track Various Artist Compilation that is available on all platforms. Currently from the London Riddim series, there are 2 official video releases titled 'Dunn's River' and 'Father'. His newest hit production is 'Dangerous' by Light A Fiyah featuring Conroy Smith. Also on YouTube is the 4th annual One Turntable and a Mic Special Honorees Edition. One of the Honorees was from the world’s longest running video show, Video Music Box’s very own Ralph McDaniels featured on the Showtime Documentary Film 'You’re Watching Video Music Box'.

The label is set for other major releases, with a focus on crossing over to a mainstream audience. Dancehall lyrics fused with hip hop beats and the ever-pulsating dancehall riddims will see this label enjoying maximum success soon. Steve is currently hosting 'The New York Experience' on Monday & Thursday Night from 9pm to midnight on Red Hot Radio 102.3 FM in New York and the tri state area. Listeners can also tune in on the Red Hot Radio app.

Steve Austin proves that passion and perseverance, coupled with a sense of humor and work ethics are indeed the keys to success. His journey also highlights the importance of evolving.
