Miss. Dee

In 1996, Ms. Dee a social worker for the criminal justice system dealt with lots of troubled teens, as times got harder for the teens in the community, Ms. Dee needed to come up with a plan that combined activities with release of stress in the community.  The love for dancing made her want to give worthwhile activities to the talented youth she saw daily in her community (the Bronx).  Knowing they needed an alternative from being on the streets, she started Ms. D’s Productions & the 100% Dance Team (Later to become Married 2 The Music Ent.) The legal company that consists of its artists [currently Kevin Dukes, Kool K, and dancers [100% Grown & Sexy (18 & up) and 100% Young Ones (17 & under)].  The change was made after aspiring artists started looking to Ms. Dee to manage them; shows were being consistently and consecutively won. She started seeing how far her ideas could go and before she knew it people were calling for her help, asking can she back round dance, use her choreography and her artists to perform in their shows.

            In the past twelve years over two hundred fifty children and young adults have come through the M2TM camp.  Some dancers have stayed committed since the beginning but some “walked out” after one week, a day or if they can’t deal with the hard work. Hence the name Married 2  The Music (meaning) being committed to something you love and cherish, Just as in a marriage, some walk out on the relationship however M2TM never stops. Only real people with real hopes and dreams are pursued.  Only more serious dancers and artists whose dedication is true to the wonderful world of music will grow from this experience.

Any acts that come through the camp whether it’s dance, rap, or singing always come in first place for competitions and NONE are EVER forgotten. Ms. Dee focuses on perfecting performing skills and stage presence; entertaining the audience comes before winning the competition.  People who can pick up choreography quickly can easily be taught how to play with the audience are chosen before someone who can just “dance real good”.  M2TM can be considered a camp just as much as it can be thought of as a marriage. 

It is a boot camp for the music industry where as you will be critiqued to perfection.  There is also a probation period of thirty days. M2TM is an obvious family setting so that familiarity is seen on stage by the audience. Practice is usually three times a week, a performer is coached on everything,  From how the microphone is held, to which beats go to which step, to jumping jacks while singing or rapping.  Acting is encouraged while on stage…Even if you’re a quiet person in real time, while on stage you are the most outgoing, energetic performer ever seen and heard.   

All this practice and participation improves interpersonal skills, physical health (stamina), confidence is increased and participants learn how to take the negative criticism just as eagerly as the positive.  Frustration from home or school is changed into fuel for the stage. 

There are also incentives like awards, prizes and trips.  Younger M2TM members also have to be excelling in school or at least in progress.  Adults should be working in order to help with the responsibilities of Married 2 The Music or at least have some goals set towards their future.

Married 2 The Music Ent. is an overall entertainment company.  The services are endless.  Along with choreography for any type of music (hip hop, jazz, reggae, latin, r&b) Ms.D is not only the CEO but the artist representative, fashion consultant, make up artist, stage crew, talent scout, Manager, she scouts for beats, creates song concepts. When 100% dance team hits the stage you will be given a 100% show with a mini concert before your eyes.  Ms.D’s imagination doesn’t stop at smoke machines & costumes; it is like a live video.  The purpose for performing include: getting more dancers, getting an artist signed, getting more paid gigs and loving what you do

The services given by this company usually costs hundreds and thousands of dollars.  (Not including prize money & some paid gigs; Ms. Dee has been offering her services for twelve years most of the time for free and using her own money to make it happen. Married 2 the Music is a gold mine that has been hidden for too long now; the Bronx’s best kept secret…In the next five years the possibilities of where M2TM can go are endless.  A reality show, getting an artist signed to a major label or turning M2TM into a record label, dancers becoming paid back up dancers for any known artist, maybe a talent agency and/or dance school.  Regardless of the outcome Married 2 The Music Ent., 100% Grown & Sexy and 100% Young Ones will never end; only change for the betterment of the community and the world.
