Robin Johnson
Robin Johnson
Robin Johnson (she/her) is an award-winning actor, choreographer, writer, and social activist who made her film directorial debut in 2023 with the experimental, genre-defying short "Beach Day." Made on a shoestring budget of roughly $2k, "Beach Day" has won at 8 festivals, been nominated at 9 festivals, and screened at 7 additional as of February 2024.
Robin is interested in art as a healing modality for individuals and communities alike, and in exploring the intersection of social change, storytelling, and magic. Robin is a proud intersectional feminist and self-identified "Strega" who seeks to upend stereotypes and subvert audience expectations of marginalized characters onscreen. She hopes to challenge viewers not just with her content, but also with her storytelling style; Robin weaves the supernatural into mundane moments, and toys with the space where realism ends, and magic begins.
She holds a BFA in Drama from NYU's Tisch School of the Arts. She currently works at a non-profit where she helps impacted folks share their stories far and wide as she advocates alongside them. She lives in Queens, NY with her boyfriend and their two cats. Follow her at RobinTellsStories.com
