Red Coral Universe, an artist-first, OTT streaming platform catering to independent artists, today announced an Aspiring Filmmaker Boot Camp series, hosted by Founder, CEO, and Academy Award filmmaker, Larry Meistrich (Sling Blade) will be making stops in Alabama next month. The workshop will include a 3-day webinar covering the how-to’s of independent filmmaking, from development to production to marketing and distribution, along with discussions on how the business is changing, strategies that filmmakers can use to succeed, and secrets to pitching a project. In addition, in-person sessions will be available in the Alabama cities of Huntsville, Birmingham, Montgomery, and Auburn on October 26 & 27. During these sessions, attendees will have the opportunity to pitch their project to Red Coral Universe executives to try and secure a distribution deal on the Red Coral OTT platform, which is available worldwide on all phones, tablets, smart TVs, and connected devices.

Larry Meistrich has been a preeminent force in the entertainment industry for decades, bringing over 150 films and shows to the screen. In 1990, he founded the first indie film studio, The Shooting Gallery, where he produced award-winning films such as Sling Blade, which launched Billy Bob Thornton into stardom. Meistrich also produced Kenneth Lonergan’s You Can Count on Me, which won “Best Picture” at the Independent Spirit Awards, along with Nick Gomez’s Laws of Gravity, Dee Snider’s Strangeland, Belly, starring DMX and Nas, and New Jersey Drive, working alongside long-time friend and executive producer Spike Lee, among others.
