In 1980s East Germany, a doctor is reassigned from Berlin to a rural clinic after seeking permission to leave the country. Under constant surveillance and unsure who to trust, she keeps her distance while trying to do her job, even as a wary connection forms with the clinic’s kind but possibly compromised leadership.
