Story: Rodney and Yelena Ferrer are a dynamic duo based in Brooklyn, NY, who have made impactful contributions in the worlds of filmmaking and advocacy. Rodney, an Award-Winning Filmmaker, started his career as an actor with the Family Life Theatre Company before transitioning to studying and teaching on-camera acting in New York. Over the past two decades, he has carved a niche for himself as an independent filmmaker, delving into the human experience against urban backdrops and exploring the rich culture and diversity of the city. Together with his wife, Yelena, a classically-trained Pianist, Actor, and Producer, they co-founded Sidewalk Prophecy Films as a platform for their creative endeavors. Through their production company, they have created acclaimed series like City of Mercy and Placebo Heart, as well as notable films including Bobby Mortal and House of Waltz. Beyond their artistic pursuits, the Ferrers are also dedicated advocates for T1D children and civil rights, particularly within the NYC public school system, championing landmark initiatives to improve the lives of diabetic students.
