AMXXR

My story is not linear; there are a lot of layers to it. AMXXR— is pronounced like my given name, Ameer. The product of a Jamaican/American family joined the US Army early.

At 16, I enlisted. I did two years of that and then 11 months of combat, in the Special Ops Command as a PSYOPS member. After my tenure in the army, I used the GI bill to enroll at nearby Fordham University, where I earned a Bachelor’s in Computer Science and a Master’s in Cyber Security. All the while, also moonlighted as a barber.

It led to meeting C.L., Smooth, who eventually brought me to Pete. Over the years, a relationship was forged leading to several records with Pete Rock and years later landing a deal on his new imprint “Tru Soul Records” as the first artist he ever signed.
